Anthology FAQs

Why does my business need social media?

Social Media has become a part of our everyday lives. According to Socialnomics 2017, it influences 93% of buying decisions. It is important to keep up with this growing trend in order to stay relevant and be successful. Social media gives companies a chance to show their products to a large audience of potential customers, as well as make connections with them on a professional and personal level. You can share more of what goes on in your business which can interest your customers and gain their trust and admiration. Seeing regular updates from your company will keep you top of mind.

Why do I need professional photos on my website and social media?

With so many people viewing companies online, it is important to present yourself in the best way possible. One of the most effective ways to do this is through visual imagery. In fact, “38% of people will leave a website if they find the layout unattractive” (Adobe). Therefore, having high quality, clean, and branded photos of your offerings makes it possible for your potential customers to view your products or services accurately. It also gives you a chance to present yourself professionally across all platforms which creates brand identity and recognition.

I am used to seeing photographers list their sessions as 1/2 day or full day. Why are your photoshoots only 1 hour long?

Our packages are crafted to fit a more modern business lifestyle. The content I create for my clients is often used for social media, blogs, newsletters and and online content updates. This means the imagery needs to be fresh and new, as often as possible, in order to keep up with new product arrival, and to keep their customers and followers engaged! It makes more sense to have smaller, more frequent photoshoots rather than fewer long ones.

Do I need a headshot? Does it have to be a corporate head-and-shoulders shot?

Headshots are one of the most important types of photos for both businesses and professionals. A high quality and visually appealing headshot helps to create a connection by letting your customers know who you are. It also serves as a reminder that that there are real people behind the everyday operations.

I do provide a formal, corporate style headshot if that is what you are looking for, but I also offer a more modern, relaxed variation showing a bit more personality. In these photos, I think it's always best to show off who you are! That could mean the photoshoot is in your home, in your shop working with clients, with your kids, or pets, or whatever it is that makes you you! That is what people LOVE to see!

What if my business's style is different than what I see on your Instagram?

The photos I show on my Instagram are all edited to fit my brand image. My personal style is a light, bright and airy feel. That being said, I do not always edit photos for clients the same way I edit them for my Instagram. For example, if a client's brand is earthier, and rustic with darker colours, I would edit them to fit that style. That is why before I do a photoshoot with my clients, I like to discuss what their style and ideal brand image is, so that we are on the same page, and I can provide quality photo content that supports their brand.

What equipment do you use?

The camera that I use is the Sony a7 R III as well as my backup Nikon DSLR. My favourite lens to use is my Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art because the photos it captures such clear, crisp photos, really highlighting all of the beautiful details. I do not often use artificial lighting as I much prefer the look of photos that are naturally lit. Using natural sunlight as my only lighting source is always my absolute favourite way to shoot.

In my studio I also keep a collection of styling props, and backdrops so that I have lots to work with when photographing and styling product.
